Bear Lake contains abundant suspended microscopic particles of white-colored calcium carbonate (lime) that reflect the water’s natural blue color back to the surface, giving the lake its intense turquoise-blue color. This color is why Bear Lake is know as the “Caribbean of the Rockies.” These particles of calcium carbonate are mainly derived from the abundant limestone of the Bear River Range. Fall into the season
Scott Papek Presents “FALL INTO THE SEASON”
What is better than a warm fall day? How about a warm fall day surrounded by color in the mountains? I don’t take the places I travel to and see for granted. There is so much color, character and beauty all around these United States. Thank you for being part of my obsession and journey. Fall into the season is a Limited Edition of only 300 prints and can be viewed here.
Go With the Flow
There are many things about Landscape Photography that make so much sense to me but I have to say one of my favorites is the not knowing. You can plan this and plan that but so many different elements have to come together for it to feel right. This shot is a perfect example of the not knowing, I’m standing in the dark at a location I had never seen before wondering is this the day Mother Nature will share some of her color. If she gives me at least a chance I will connect with whatever is in front of me and do her proud. For sizing and pricing go here
Anglins Pier first opened on November 24, 1963. It has been, and still is today, an important part of the City, Lauderdale by the Sea, offering tourists and fishermen a great time.
Eyes Wide Open
Eye’s Wide Open was captured around Crested Butte, Colorado.
As much as I love photographing the ocean, photographing aspen trees in the fall is right up there. There is so much color you can play with surrounding these pearly whites. The slight yellow and green color within this shot makes me happy.
The aspens are all native to cold regions with cool summers, in the north of the Northern Hemisphere, extending south at high altitudes in the mountains. They are all medium-sized deciduous trees reaching 15–30 m (49–98 ft) tall. Aspens do not thrive in the shade, and it is difficult for seedlings to grow in an already mature aspen stand.
Eye Wide Open is a Limited Edition of only 300 prints and can be viewed here.
The Gatekeeper
The City of Cannon Beach is located on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Oregon, 80 miles west of Portland and 25 miles south of Astoria. Cannon Beach is surrounded by the rugged natural beauty of forests, ocean beaches, rivers, and the Oregon Coast Mountain range. The clouds looked like they were formed with a paint brush so it inspired me to treat this shot like a painting. Waiting patiently for the perfect wave to push the water up the shoreline, I slowed down my camera speed to get the smooth effect. I love everything about this shot from the proud boulder to the smooth ocean; but the subtle color along the shoreline blows my mind. To view more info on The Gatekeeper visit here
The Perfect Moment
Have you ever experienced the perfect moment? The perfect moment for me is when everything around you is working in such a way that it might never happen again. I know when the perfect moment is surrounding me because the goose bumps appear and I hope it never ends. The light, the color, the reflection, the breeze, the smell and sound. I’m glad my friend on the left rock experienced it with me. The Perfect Moment is a limited edition of only 50 prints and can be viewed here.
Lobster Buoy
I grew up in Nebraska but have lived all over the United States. Old Barns reminded me of home when I was away. Lobster Shacks on the East Coast remind me of barns. You can count on finding lobster buoys around any lobster shack. I love the color and the antique feel from each one. This photograph was taken in Rockport, Mass. More information here
Two Lights
Portland Head Lighthouse is located in Portland, Maine and was the first lighthouse completed by the United States government. The government set aside $750.00 for a lighthouse at Portland Head in 1787, but the project would not be completed until the First Congress passed the Lighthouse act in 1789, which placed lighthouses under control for the federal government. Portland Head Lighthouse was the first lighthouse completed under the act, after Secretary of Treasury Alexander Hamilton allocated a sum not exceeding $1500.00 in August of 1790 to finish the lighthouse on Portland Head.
I spent 7 mornings and 7 evenings waiting for perfect light so I could do this historic lighthouse justice. I’m not one to spend so much time at one location, but felt the potential would be incredible if I was patient with it. There is something so special about being around the ocean, by yourself, in complete darkness, anticipating the perfect moment, while listening to a soundtrack of crashing waves. I personally love the color tones, especially in the ocean and how the rocks and sky are somehow working together in texture. “Two Lights”, is a limited edition print of only 300 images and can be purchased here.
