The Gatekeeper

Canon Beach Fine Art Photography

The City of Cannon Beach is located on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Oregon, 80 miles west of Portland and 25 miles south of Astoria. Cannon Beach is surrounded by the rugged natural beauty of forests, ocean beaches, rivers, and the Oregon Coast Mountain range.  The clouds looked like they were formed with a paint brush so it inspired me to treat this shot like a painting.  Waiting patiently for the perfect wave to push the water up the shoreline, I slowed down my camera speed to get the smooth effect.  I love everything about this shot from the proud boulder to the smooth ocean; but the subtle color along the shoreline blows my mind. Weathered

Weathered

My intention was never intended to photograph a rock. I mean come on.

Driving along Highway One in Northern California is a little sketchy due to the gigantic cliffs; but the views are breathtaking. This particular morning was cold; but the mile hike in complete darkness packed with all kinds of camera gear warmed me up quickly.

Walking along the beach the clouds were dancing right in front of my eyes. That is when I noticed there was something working together with the sky and rock pattern. I was taken by the rock in this image.  It has been getting its butt kicked by the ocean for years, but it isn’t going down easy.  It is weathered, but strong. For more info view here

Made in The Usa

MadeintheusaWhile searching for a shot in Virginia, I about ran off the gravel road when I came across this barn. Mother Nature was doing her thing with the beautiful clouds while I was getting my camera in place. You could feel the pride with this old barn as it displayed the American Flag. east coast ocean storm

Storm approaching Nahunt beach

At one of my showings a very nice older lady in her 80’s approached me and said you’re a cloud person aren’t you. I replied yes I am and thanks for noticing. The beauty of Landscape photography is you could photograph the same place everyday with so many different outcomes. When you finally nail a shot like this, you move on and never return. This Photograph was shot along the Massachusetts coast.

Rockport Mass

Rockport Mass bay of boats

I see the ocean as a repeated changing canvas; just take a look at my portfolio. The Rockport Harbor in Massachusetts is must see the next time you travel to the East Coast. Try the chowda and a local Ipa. I love how the clouds above the colorful sailboats look like smoke stacks. This image is called “Lazy Sunday” and available here.

All artists are self-taught

Techniques and skill and even a point of view are often handed down, formally or not. It’s easier to get started if you’re taught, of course.

But art, the new, the ability to connect the dots and to make an impact–sooner or later, that can only come from one who creates, not from a teacher and not from a book. “Seth Godin”

New Beginning

“New Beginning” was captured right out of Custer National Forest in Montana.

The Man above blessed me with an ubelievable painting in the sky. “New Beginning” is a limited edition print of only 10. 911

I have learned so many things in the last 4 years selling my art in galleries and art shows.

1. Have an open mind.

2. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

3. Don’t ever think you have it figured out.

4. Always try to better people’s lives.

I have not sold a 911 image in 2 years until yesterday. 911 was shot on 9/11/09 in La Jolla, California.
