Scripps Pier in Lajolla

Scott has spent many hours around the Scripps Pier in La Jolla, California. He is drawn to the pier because every visit is different. Between the tide, weather, and time of day, the view is never the same. This particular evening, Scott was enjoying a rare moment in having the pier all to himself. The sun had just dipped behind the ocean. As he continuously clicked the shutter, he captured this perfect moment when the sand, sea, and sky became one. Please click here for sizing and more info.

Gateway

Gateway

La Jolla’s Temple (pronounced La Hoya) was my very first shot. It is the single reason I’ve dedicated my life to capturing beauty and remains my number one seller among collectors. A morning low tide in 2008 offered a rare opportunity to go where few have gone presenting this timeless composition. Just minutes later “Gateway” emerged with similar serendipity. “Gateway is a Limited Edition of only 50 prints and can be viewed here

Old Naple

Old Naple Pier

The first time I saw what was left of this old pier, I knew this was a shot I couldn’t leave without. Mother Nature was dumping rain on me for nearly eight days. Each of those days gave me pause to witness changing compositions and light at different times. On the seventh day a contrast developed with the darker blues in the sky and the aqua blue of the gulf at the edge of Florida. The goal was to have that smooth almost zen water feel to showcase the blues presenting my signature shot were you feel you are standing right there with me in this captured moment.

“Old Naple” is a limited edition of only 300 images and can be viewed here

Go With the Flow

Flordia Ocean Photography

There are many things about Landscape Photography that make so much sense to me but I have to say one of my favorites is the not knowing. You can plan this and plan that but so many different elements have to come together for it to feel right. This shot is a perfect example of the not knowing,  I’m standing in the dark at a location I had never seen before wondering is this the day Mother Nature will share some of her color.  If she gives me at least a chance I will connect with whatever is in front of me and do her proud. Crystal Pier

This pier isn’t one of the largest, one of the most modern, or one of the most convenient piers in California, but it is one of the top piers in the state with San Diegans and tourist. Crystal Pier is a wooden pier, 872 feet long, located at the end of Garnet Ave in Pacific Beach.

I don’t promote my facebook page at all but with so many new ventures coming in the future I’m starting to use facebook.com/PapekPhotography as my visual diary.  I hope to see you in the facebook world. Scott
