Weathered

Weathered

My intention was never intended to photograph a rock. I mean come on.

Driving along Highway One in Northern California is a little sketchy due to the gigantic cliffs; but the views are breathtaking. This particular morning was cold; but the mile hike in complete darkness packed with all kinds of camera gear warmed me up quickly.

Walking along the beach the clouds were dancing right in front of my eyes. That is when I noticed there was something working together with the sky and rock pattern. I was taken by the rock in this image.  It has been getting its butt kicked by the ocean for years, but it isn’t going down easy.  It is weathered, but strong. For more info view here

Made in The Usa

MadeintheusaWhile searching for a shot in Virginia, I about ran off the gravel road when I came across this barn. Mother Nature was doing her thing with the beautiful clouds while I was getting my camera in place. You could feel the pride with this old barn as it displayed the American Flag. Lobster Buoy

Rockport Lobster Buoy-1

I grew up in Nebraska but have lived all over the United States. Old Barns reminded me of home when I was away. Lobster Shacks on the East Coast remind me of barns. You can count on finding lobster buoys around any lobster shack. I love the color and the antique feel from each one. This photograph was taken in Rockport, Mass. More information here

Nature is Imagination

Imaginationisnature

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”
William Blake

I wish I had a chance to have a cup coffee with William Blake so I could tell him how influential his short poem was to me and the whole reason this shot ever happened. My favorite compliment is when my pictures are compared to paintings. The technique for this type of shot is to have your camera on a tripod, slow down the shutter speed and slightly move the camera up or down while taking the image. Does it always work? Not at all. But when you get that one that does, it’s magical. View Nature is Imagination full image here.

Perfect Harmony

I was listing to music and going through my six years of work, when I came across this image.  It was one of those days where you feel like the universe is working against you.  I had been working on my seasonal gallery all day with my designer and nothing was flowing.  This image has everything that inspires me; the ocean, the breeze, the moment, the smell and most importantly, the sound of the stream working perfectly with the subtle ocean waves.  This image reflects perfect harmony.  It inspired me and helped me find perspective on a challenging day.  I hope it does the same for you.  Click here to view the full image:
